W.W Maund served as the first pastor. The first building was a small wooden sanctuary. The church later outgrew the building and built a larger wooden building in 1893. This Gothic-style brick auditorium with beautiful stain glass windows was the home of First Baptist Church until it was taken by a fire in June of 2003. The members continued to meet at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church until November of 2006. The new sanctuary, education, and family life center were dedicated in December of 2006 and the church celebrated 151 years of ministry in Jasper, Texas. My dad, Bryan South is the pastor.
